How is rapeseed grown?

It is necessary to make the necessary mineral fertilizers and trace elements after planting and emergence of seedlings:

  • sulfur;
  • magnesium;
  • boron;
  • manganese;
  • molybdenum;
  • copper;
  • zinc;
  • cobalt.

These top dressing are vital for the development of the plant and for the crop, and also not all of them can come from the soil naturally.

Winter varieties are planted at the end of August — at this time the soil temperature is optimal in any case. By winter, the plant already has about 8 leaves and a thick enough trunk, so it can safely endure the cold. Well-fertilized loam and sandy loam soils are also suitable for planting. The plant does not favor too high humidity.

Spring rapeseed can be planted in early spring at a soil temperature of 5-7 degrees, and the planting time depends on the specific climatic conditions of the region. Seeds are usually planted to a depth of 2 cm, with a distance between rows of 15 cm. The approximate rate of rapeseed density is 120 plants per square meter.

Rapeseed is harvested when the seeds ripen: they should be ripe, humidity from 9 to 12%, and the pods should be yellow-green. Sometimes plants ripen at different times in the same field. In this case, separate harvesting has to be applied. Harvesting of rapeseed of winter and spring varieties practically does not differ in technology, only the harvest dates change.

Rapeseed is a very popular crop, widely used both in the food industry and in manufacturing. Therefore, more and more countries are growing this crop on agricultural lands. Traditionally, the world leaders in the cultivation of this crop are Canada and China. However, a significant part of the crops is grown in other Asian countries, as well as Denmark, Germany, the Czech Republic and Russia.
